Washing up

Taking a week off from blogging has given me some perspective. I've realized that what I set out to accomplish by blogging is no longer my primary focus. I have spent a couple extra days avoiding my blog and thought about my original goal.

To capture pieces of myself and my family.

That is my mission. For the most part I have done that, but in the process I have become addicted to blogging and all that goes with it. Blogging has kept me from my family. Blogging has kept me from my work. Blogging has kept me from a lot of things.

Blogging has also put me in contact with some wonderful people that I consider friends. I will not stop blogging, but I am going to strive to stick to my mission statement. Starting right now.
Just a little bath time fun in the Seibel house tonight. The 17 month age difference between my girls was challenging when they were young. Now... I wouldn't have it any other way.

I super duper consider you a friend too Amy.
I was just musing on this very topic today.

You have been missed.

I completely understand how you are feeling! It does get to be a bit much sometimes. I started blogging to have the connection with my friends and family when I moved away. I never imagined it would turn into what it has. I think it's awesome that you have regained your perspective, I'm working on that myself!

Good to know the age difference is working out...Mine are fifteen months apart, and it's hard! Let blogging be what you want it to be:)

I am so honoured. I don't know what else to say.

Missed you while you were gone, but I totally understand what you're saying. As you know, I too have taken a little hiatus recently, and it was really good for me. I had lost my focus, lost my priorities... now they're back. I love blogging, but the life I'm blogging about has been a little neglected of late. It just didn't make any sense.

Great pics of the girls! My kids bathe together, too, and although it's chaos right now there are some really adorable moments!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I absolutely consider you a friend. You've saved me from jarred spaghetti sauce, and given me support when I needed it. I am so glad that you aren't leaving!

And I'm glad that you've chosen to continue sharing bits and pieces of your family with us as well.

The closest we've ever gotten to our boys in the bath together? Well, they're five years apart so its a bit more difficult. But when Bug was a baby, Jock used to love helping me give him a bath. :)

Beautiful! Thank you for mentioning (linking) me there...I'm so happy we finally met.

I've been neglecting things, too. I think with spring coming it's time to pare down the blogging life and go play in the grass with my girls. It's become overwhelming and all-consuming trying to keep up with everything. I think your new perspective is wonderful!

Cute photos :)

Yeah, blogging can get too much. I think, as we get into it, and meet a lot of other bloggers, it starts becoming more of a popularity contest rather than its original purpose of an online chronicle of our lives.

Good for you in taking a break and putting things back in perspective.

Funny... I had the same conversations with myself two weeks ago. LOL. The purpose of my blog is to document my life, my children, and along the way I have met wonderful people. You very much included! So, I quit the social networks, quit memes, and have been slacking on reading blogs. I read my favorites. My friends.

Have a good day. My friend!

It's so nice to hear that you are enjoying the closeness in age of your children. My daughter is 18 months older than my son who was born in November, and right now, it's exhausting! (Thankfully, I have the 7 year old home on Spring Break to help out this week.) I'm hoping the two littlest ones share a friendship bond as they get older. **fingers crossed**

They are adorable! I agree that a 17 month age difference is ideal - my kids are so close - it makes my heart warm all over. Glad to know you are not giving up blogging!

Taking a break from blogging puts it all into perspective. I'm glad you're back and refocused. Maybe I'll get back to it again soon.

I have heard this said over and over again lately. It seems that we are all in the same boat. It's so easy for this very big and exciting bloggy world to take over. We all need to take time off sometimes to reprioritize.

Glad you're back though!

I didn't know that your girls were so close in age like mine! "Challenging" is lightly put on this end! Ha!

They are adorable!

Bath time when my kids were little was truly one of my most favorite times. Beautiful girls.

Blogging brought me to you, which makes me so grateful. I cherish our friendship. But, I agree. Blogging was starting to feel like work. I was so desparate to be read, that I was losing my own truth. I had to refocus and step back, too. I hear and see so many of us doing that. It's like this giant collective breath we are all taking. No matter what you post, or how often. We will always be friends.

Yay! Bathtime fun. My sister and I were about 2 years apart and we had many fun times in the tub. Good for you on re-focusing.

AHHH I feel like this too. The balance. Spending too much time online..my "window" to the world.
